As thread title really,

Today I caught the end of a finger in a table saw resulting in a fracture to the end of the finger and the tip being a bit of a mess.

5 months ago I caught another finger in a chop saw but that was just a deep cut so not too bad.

Aside from that I've not had a power tool accident in quite a while, I get the normal run of the mill cuts and knicks from tools and machinary but I think that goes with the job as a maintenance engineer.

So I guess I'm asking how often do you find you have accidents that's lead to having to stop what your doing to deal with.

Thanks
Chris

Every other day gardening: thorns, nettles, branches where you least expect them  creaky joints and a frozen shoulder have dogged my steps this year, so i'm kinda glad Winter's a-comin' to put a stop to the torment.

gosh, you must be a lot of pain I guess the work snatched if you fractured your finger.

I hope the damage to the end of your finger is mendable.

I ran a joinery shop employing people for many years, thank goodness nobody had a serious accident. One lad decided to brush away some sawdust off the bed of the machine and his fingers touched the cutters, amazingly he just machined off his nail which grew back. It was to be honest a continuous worry I was glad when I closed down.

I cut my thumb on the bandsaw once, that’s my only serious injury, that day I popped into the minor injury unit, got it sewn up then went back to work….self employed it’s what you do.

The work piece didn't snag, like a **** I looked away from what I was doing and continued to push the work piece into the blade.

It's sore but it'll all heal fine.

I once had a splinter in my hand, but didn't know what it was. Both my hands were a mess as we were fitting a fence after ridding the boundary of a thorny unfriendly hedge so it meant I had a lot of annoying sores and splinters to contend with. A couple of weeks after most of them healed, I had a surprise visitor...

Oh, and I fell onto the open rafters once, sacrificing my leg in place of my crown jewels or a fall onto the concrete....

I've always been h&s aware, without being obsessed.
That's saved me from deep cuts, broken bones and flying down scaffolding and roofs.
However, I regularly get injured when training.
Recovering from the third ankle twist in 3 years ATM.
Neck is dodgy, right hip remembers a fall from parallel bars a few decades ago and the wrists and thumbs are now complaining of years of abuse as a carpenter and general building work in all weather.
A few falls from mountain bikes to top it all off.
Still getting injured on a regular basis, I say at least once a month.
But at this age I just carry on.

Well …. Been using my chain saw today like I do most Wednesdays, doing volunteering and I can say that to date it’s not injured me and I’m planning on not needing to check out the PPE I have.

I think the last injury I got was a small cut on the top of a finger from some discarded metal I was picking up

As thread title really,

Minor in comparison to others here, but my most recent was earlier today, sniping a bundle of chives, and taking a chunk out of the index finger of the hand holding the bundle, with the tip of the scissors.

Didn't hurt enough to comment on, but it was a bit of an inconvenience as it wouldn't stop leaking finger juice everywhere.

I read a comment once along the lines that table saws spend their idle time plotting new and inventive ways to kill you.

oh you poor luv

Not got an injury for a couple of years ( though have to take my time now due to cervical stenosis)
Crushed my finger with a mallet , stuck some gaffer tape round it and finished the job.
