Should soft brick internal wall of external wall be plastered with lime plaster or can you use dot and dab plasterboard

are there any damp issues?
is the outside rendered?

what about any render?
a photo will help but if the soft reds are in good nick why do anything to them?posh kitchens sometimes show old exposed brickwork.
backerboard can be screwed on for any tile backsplash.

just me but i dont like dot and dab.if you do plaster use lime mortar render and use the same to point up any exposed external brickwork.

Bricks aren't nice enough
