I have a 7m long 4inch thick block wall I want to strengthen. I was going to put a brick pier outside of the wall (using a wall starter kit) and a wooden 4inch post in the inside of the wall. My question is how can I attach the pier to the post going through the wall. Should I anchor some threaded rod into the pier at certain intervals? Im almost thinking of something similar to those wrought iron crosses they have on older properties that brace walls.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, cheers

Thanks for the reply. I always wondered what those were for. I was thinking of long coach screws, head end in the pier with washers on and threaded end screwed into post. Or using studding and doing a similar thing with nut and washer at each end.

The fish tail ties dont look long enough to tie the pier to the post but would tie the pier to the wall. Is this correct?

I forgot to mention it is a summerhouse block built building and has no cavity. Single skin wall hence the need to strengthen it.
