hi im after building a new stud wall upstairs in a house im getting as at the moment it has a seperate toilet and loo-so what im looking at doing is nocking through existing wall from toilet to bathroom and making 1 big room.

are the uprights of the new studwork best fixed to a piece of batten attatched to the floorboards or is it best to get floorboards up and attatch to original floor joists and the same with the ceiling-is it best attatching 4x2 across existing plaster ceiling or nocking through plasterwork and attatching to joists again....

whats best timber to use for this 3x2 or 4x2.

should uprights be 400mm centres.

use normal 12mm plasterboard or rubberbacked noise stuff for where it meets landing???

is it worth use noiseboard to eliminate

whats the best method to fit new doorframe to this structure....

thanx

whats best timber to use for this -- 4x2. better suited to adding a door frame

should uprights be 400mm centres.--Yes

use normal 12mm plasterboard or rubberbacked noise stuff for where it meets landing??? Normal stuff with insulation

is it worth use noiseboard to eliminate No

whats the best method to fit new doorframe to this structure....Buy door and frame first then you can leave the correct gap to fit to uprights.

thanx
