How to dye a wool rug?

I have a cream wool rug at the moment that is now looking so grubby i thought i would dye it a dark brown colour

Any advice on how best to do this?

I thought about using a Dylon dye in a big tub and soaking the rug in there with it however i'm worried a cold-water dye will not take on wool?
