Our door number sign has fallen off

Not sure what to use to stick it back on

Any advice?

I was thinking of putting a screw in and just leaving
But I'm guessing if I get the right glue, I can glue back on?

See pic below:

EDIT: around the lettering there is what looks like cement - it's a small amount only. This doesn't really show on the pic. Also the glue seems to be a 'springy' glue (as opposed to something that is rock hard). I thought I would mention.

Thanks.

Blue-tak (or equivalent) works surprisingly well for jobs like that.

Thanks for the replies guys - super helpful.

The only concern I had was: the existing glue is not rock hard... it's 'springy' (only way I can think of describing!)
So... I thought I should get the same glue?

@blup that video is super helpful.

If you guys don't say anything else, I'll get an 'outdoor' grab adhesive.

EDIT: I can't find anything for 'outdoor adhesive'.
Toolstation and screwfix search results are really pathetic.
Is there anything at these places that will do the job?

Thanks.

Scrape out the spongy residue from the old glue. Smear a layer of EVO-STIK/BOSTIC and let it set. (about 10 minutes or so).
This will seal the sub surface. Then spread an even layer over this and an even layer over the back of the number. Allow both to become almost touch dry.
Press number against the wall and hold for a few seconds. It will grab it and should hold securely. If it is heavy it may need some support for a short time while it completely sets.

@conny thanks for the great advice.
I should *definitely* smear a layer first and then apply?
@lostinthelight - thanks. I searched loads and couldn't find. Booking now for pickup tmrw.
(@conny, I assume this was the 'EVO-STIK/BOSTIC' referred to as given by @lostinthelight.)
The door sign is not very heavy.

It looks as if what failed, was not the glue itself, but the adhesion of the cement to the wall. You might have better luck with the same adhesive, now the wall surface is bare.

@Harry Bloomfield I thought I had it figured out... but now you say something different. LOL.
I can't think of what glue it might have been. Any suggestions?
I think the grip adhesive might be best.
Originally you had whatever glue it was + tiny amounts of cement to hold it up.
Lasted maybe 12 years.

If the "adhesive" is still flexible then I suggest it was probably fixed with silicone sealant.
