hello all,

i was wondering if any one can tell me the ways to identify 3/4 copper pipe..

thanks

If there's a cut end visible, 22mm stuff is a rattling good fit :P but a 3/4"
olive works just fine.
If I'm not sure, I use a caliper or vernier gauge so that I've the correct fittings ready.
I've noticed that some of the 3/4" compression fittings have an octagonal nut, but that may be just local to here.
John :)

You could use an adjustable spanner as a caliper to compre it with a dog end of pipe of known size. Set it to a snug fit over a bit of 22mm pipe, and it will rattle about on a 3/4" pipe. Set it to fit a 3/4" pipe, and it won't fit over a 22mm pipe.

I've seen octagonal nuts on 22mm fittings too :? .

If you’re using compression fittings you can get 3/4" olives. They will fit all 22mm compression fittings; elbows, couplers, tees etc etc .
If soldering you can get metric to imperial couplers in end feed and solder ring.
Speedfit do push-fit imperial to metric couplers, too.

It's 3/4" ID and is made of copper.
As the op does not have access to the inside of the pipe the above is of little use to him.

It’s made of copper and about 13/16” outside diameter.

get a 22mm fitting from a diy shop, stick it on the end, if its a nice snug fit, its 22mm, if its loose then its 3/4, if its very loose then its neither.
