How to look after bamboo kitchen worktops?

I have a bamboo kitchen worktop, what's the best way to look after / preserve it? Thanks

I have bamboo worktop, I sand them once a year & then apply about 2 or 3 coats of oil.
Some spray cleaners make the oil go sticky, I keep saying to my cleaning lady to use soap & water, but will she listen.
