A small area of carpet in my office at home (only under and around my chair) is becoming extremely threadbare due to years of use from my feet and the chair casters - not only that but two holes have appeared, one even goes through the underlay and has exposed the concrete floor. Each hole is about 2 inches in diameter.
Unfortunately I just cannot afford to have the whole room re-carpeted, so what is the "best" cheap option? I could just slap down a rug or a mat but if I do that I'll no doubt end up tripping over the edges, so is there a recommended way to patch the holes?
