How to reduce knife/violent crime in our cities

Years ago they asked a load of chefs if pointed knives were neccesary for their work, they all said no. I suspect that most stabbings are done with household kitchen knives so why don't they sell rounded blade knives only?

Absolutely, bring back the stop and search.

You can tell which people look dodgy and need to be searched. If they come from ethnic minorities so be it. It's profiling, not racism. The Police need to be able to stop people who look like they might be carrying a knife.

Also, face covering in public must be banned (except on really cold days I guess). If you're covering your face for no good reason, you automatically get stopped.

How?

From how they are acting, what they are wearing, what they are carrying or not carrying, who they are with etc etc. You build up a picture. Also, if you are a Police Officer, you will get to know the type of people who are committing crimes. I don't think it's that hard. Yes, some incorrect stops will be made, but so what, there's no harm done.

It's a bit like how you can often tell which people will drive like idiots just from the look of their car.

So do the police have the resources to do this e.g. in a large town/city centre, that may well have dozens upon dozens of folk milling around that look dodgy? Do they all get searched?

AFAIAA, the crims are not that stoopid as to carry a knife.
Knives are dropped at agreed locations to be picked up, used, then got rid of.

Not in all cases obviously, but frequently enough to utilise the argument of "one is too many" (but in reverse).

sharpened bicycle spokes are used now, can go through some stab vest as well

nasty

Not all, but some.

What I am saying is the Police should be allowed to stop and search anyone who they think might be carrying a knife, using their own judgement. I don't know what the law says at the moment, but if it's not allowed, it should be!

Improve the economy for all, there’s a link with crime. Or just slash taxes and arm people, like the USA.

Allowed up here.
