Ive got a philips head screw that is stuck and the head is a bit worn from trying to remove it.
I need to remove it to replace a broken upvc window handle.

Its hard to get much pressure behind as the window obvs wont lock shut.

whats the easiest way to remove it, should I try a thread extractor?
thanks

Drill the head off the screw so that you can remove the handle. Then use lots of penetrating oil on the screw thread and mole grips on what’s left of the screw. They’re often rusted in to the mechanism.

Hopefully the screw won’t shear off.

Thanks, I suppose one bolt may be ok to hold it on if I cant remove the other

Try a pozidrive screwdriver. There is a slight difference between pozi and phillips screws.

Also, refit the other screw(s) and try to undo the damaged one.
Screw extractors can work,,but it's 50/50.
