How to replace a leaky WC Cistern syphon

Do you have through bolts that go through the cisten and through the toilet, are they plactic bolts?
If so throw them away and buy these:

Bolt Through Cistern Connector Kit

Stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers. For connecting toilet cistern to bowl.

And keep the washer you have, it will squash down.

THANK YOU ANDY! I already bought the steel cistern to pan bolts for the old (and now deceased) toilet. I will use them on the new one instead of the shoddy plastic ones. "it will squash it down" - that's why I came for advice to this forum...enthusiasm for DIY is no substitute for years of practical plumbing experience.
