How's your luck with Premium Bonds?

Yeah. She was knocking on neighbours doors at 4.00 in the morning resulting in phone calls and a 30 minute drive to bring her back with us. She’s in quite a good one for the money, £6K/month, and they get them doing daily activities and take them on trips etc. She thinks she works there! When we take her out for the day she's fretting about getting back on time for her shift and that she might lose her 'job'!

Yes, some of the antics can be amusing. Breakfast at 11pm because he has no concept of time. Moving into the shed last Sept to hide from the carers. The hallucinations are hard to cope with. His decline has been rapid, 18 months ago he drove to Staffordshire from Bristol on his own. Now he can't be trusted to feed himself. Having Alzheimers and vascular dementia is a lot more rapid plus diabetes that is difficult to control is speeding it up even more. £6K seems to be the going rate here too.

I have been reading this thread and am interested in having a go myself. I already have some from being given them as a child, they are in the form of a number on a piece of card. I understand its £50k max allowed but if I open an online premium bond account I guess I have to take the ones I already have into account - but how. Or do I just cash them out and start again as I am looking to have the max £50k.

When you request an online account, your holders number will mean your existing bonds will show.

You will be able to top up from there

Sorry I dont quite get you. Do you mean when I set up the online account that its my name that will be recognised and then show my previous registered numbers from when I was a baby - even.

You should have a "holder's number" which is unique to you and any premium bonds you already own should already be linked to your holder's number.

I have holders numbers about 20 of them from being given them as a baby and other birthdays. So when I open an account online my name will trigger the system and I will be told how much I can pay in - minus my current holding ?. I have no clue as to how much my current bonds cost - are worth.
