How's your luck with Premium Bonds?

I have holders numbers about 20 of them from being given them as a baby and other birthdays. So when I open an account online my name will trigger the system and I will be told how much I can pay in - minus my current holding ?. I have no clue as to how much my current bonds cost - are worth.

In that case it looks like you will have to write to nsandi first to get them all consolidated under one holder's number. Some info on MSE below and there are lots more threads etc. if you Google:

I think each individual bond is worth £1.

Thank you - I confess I have not yet googled it but thought you lot on here would be a short cut to me doing any work

When I register online with my name it must trigger the system to say -- er actually you already have x amount of bonds - or it might say - There you are Mr I willdoit we have 1M waiting for you that you won 30 years ago !

My name is John Smith*

It does not trigger NS&I to think I am the same person as every other John Smith.

But you have a holder's number.

That is your unique identifier.

You may need to tell them your new address

With your Holders Number you can see if you have won any prizes.

There is also an NS&I account number.

Contact them, your position is very common and they know how to help you.

*no it isn't

Your other issue is that of the records for your existing bonds are down to a different address you might need to jump through more hoops, but the end result will be the same.

Bear in mind that if your address is incorrect you may be one of the many who has prizes owed to them

A long 'un for me. About effing time!

You all love these premium bonds on here don't you?

How do you put money in? Is it worth it? Isn't it better in a saving account?

Obviously, it’s premium bond thread.

Bank transfer.
Is it worth it?
Yes and no!

Isn't it better in a saving account?

Yes, if you need or want to earn interest on every £25 you own, they are not for you. If you want to have a bit fun and a gamble without losing your stake money, give it a go. Always a chance of a big win and all prizes are tax free.
