I actually (nearly) agree with mitch on this occasion, except of course they weren't fundamentalist,
per se, they were exploiting the opportunity, hidden behind a religious institution. They maybe were justifying it to themselves by some perverted recourse to a religious pretext.
But that's what people do when they can't admit to themselves that what they are doing is wrong. It's called cognitive dissonance.
Whether that description can be applied to a complete insititution, I'm not sure.
There's nothing catholic, or any religion, about abusing children. It's just like GD forum really, some people exploit any method, media, or channel, to abuse others, wherever it's allowed, covered up, denied, or deniable.
