Go and have a walk around Lakeland Plastics (now Lakeland) next time you're in Windermere. Stores like these are full of inventions, which sounded like a great idea at the time but will never really catch on.

Did trevor Bayliss really invent the clockwork radio. I remember watching old war films in which the Yanks would have these big 'walkie talkies' which had a handle on them which they would wind so that they could take to each other.

that was to make the bell at the othe rend ring, so yes Mr Bayliss did invent the first practical clockwork radio.
