well that was a good result in the end, thanks for keeping us informed with the outcome.
what did the preservation company sting the insurance company for??
We don't know, they weren't allowed to tell us! We did ask!
But it was four days work, the first day they removed all boards and joists affected and all rubble below the floor (it's a through lounge and was knocked through and like many houses a lot of the rubble was left below the floor), and put down new treated joists and boards, sprayed out the void. Cleaned out one fireplace.
We actually thought at first we would have to stay in a hotel for a few days while they replaced the floor, but it wasn't necessary.
Second day cleared out the other fireplace, hacked off plaster to 1m and bricked up both fireplaces and rough plastered.
Third day was final plaster layer and skirting boards.
Final day was completion of plaster, two new airbricks, airvent on both chimney breasts, completion of skirting boards, replacing electric meter cupboard.
They were fast, the room is huge and we were amazed at the progress at the end of each day, particularly the first day in replacing the floor!
But to top it all, our sewer is blocked, having it rodded tomorrow
