Went to a call out this morning. All lights out in loading bay. Up the ladder i go (worn out old person does not do ladders anymore). Lots of overheating inside batons. All wired in 1.0 T&E direct into batons, no grommets. Traced wiring back and found this

Supply is 1.0mm twin SWA powering 6 double 6' batons and 2 socket radials with 4 sockets on each. Note the cpc. All of this was stuffed in a 100x100x25 plastic enclosure whose lid was broken.

When told it would all need replacing as it was dangerous their reply was "it has been alright and worked for the last 8 years".

What do you do????

Slap a warning sticker on it, write a letter advising them of the problem & get them to sign it having explained everything.

Sorry "what do you do with idiots like this".

We disconected wiring and removed MCB (was not in a RCD) and we are going back tomorrow to rewire the lot.
