I've been reading "Enoch Powell at 100", IDS is one of the writers in this - and a good writer too. What a mighty politician Powell was; the nonentities in todays Parliament are inches-high in comparison. We would never be in our current mess if he hadn't been traduced by the then Conservative Party.

He left office in 1979, Ian Smith that is , not Iain DUNCAN Smith, thats why he uses the Duncan bit, saves confusion.

Duncan, Douglas didn't use his middle name as he WAS Ian Smith when it came to politics. Iain Duncan Smith probably uses his middle name to save confusion, as, although spelt different, Ian & Iain sound the same.
