Because the guy is a spark and thought probably rightly that it was an electrical fault that he maybe able to fix himself instead of having to get a budding rocket engineer out.

I am a qualified Sparky and also been repairing washing machine's , cookers, Immersion Heaters, etc, etc so I would say very able to repair the boiler. (just not very good at fault finding on boilers)

Alan

He has already said that he thinks that he is competent to work on boilers because he is a qualified electrician.

I replied that he should get a competent boiler engineer.

We dont know whats wrong, ****, ****, ******* or ******* !

Unfortunately so many others have decided to encourage him to do his own gas work which most sensible people would say is wrong.

Strange that all those who like to give inappropriate advice just happen to also be those who feel the need to hide their true identity. Perhaps its because they dont have professional indemnity insurance?

Gentleman,

I would like to say thanks for your help i pointing me in what could be wrong, ButI feel i have started something that has kicked off you plumbers, Sorry about that, I will take a look at what you have said about what the fault could be and if it comes to do with gas bit/parts then of course I will get a RGI out.

I will let you know i due course what i have found ect

Again Many thanks and hope I have not caused much touble!!!

Alan

The OP says he is competent to repair gas boilers "because he is an electrician".

But we know that its not what he knows, but what he does not know.

Will he know about positive case boilers? When most RGIs dont know then a non RGi is not likely to know about them.

Then there are all the flue and ventilation faults!

Was there not another two killed by CO poisoning last night?

Tony

I dont know about co incidents Tony but I am willing to bet there have been more incidents this year caused by rgis than owners.

The op can decide his competence to do the task when he has the information provided, it is freely available in hundereds of publications and the law is quite happy for him to work on his own boiler. You may not agree to give him certain information that is fine, but the rest of us are quite capable of censoring ourselves if required.

Whatever you or I may want to tell anyone, it is clearly stated in the forum rules that inappropriate advice should not be given.

Tony

This site does not support DIY gas and posts giving advice on gas work may be deleted. However, posts are not routinely monitored, so no work should be done as a result of seeing anything on the site.

Its clearly stated in the site rules NO ADVERTISING but you constantly do that with your £84 diagnostic comments.
Funny i thought someone as good as yourself would not have to trawl the net looking for work

And the guy clearly says he will NOT TOUCH GAS so stop making things up ,next you will be telling me your registration and ACS never run out last year :?
