Wiring of pumps to a plug, then plugged into a socket was quite a common practice. The 13 amp socket was not part of the ring/ radial circuit, but fed from the timer/ programmer/ thermostat etc.
Often boilers of this age were commonly plumbed for gravity HW and pumped CH zones. Problems arise when a gravity HW is converted to pumped without plumbing alterations, often resulting in pump over. There was a discussion on this forum about pump over that ran to several pages. The vent from the boiler (possibly the boiler connection going to motorised valves) should rise to the ‘goose neck’ without any valves, pumps or restrictions. This box may already have been ticked, as old motorised valves seems to suggest, you had a fully pumped HW and CH system.
Directional arrow on the motorised valve can be an issue if you have a paddle or ball type motorised valve. The valves you have fitted (Drayton) falls into this category, so flow of water has to be matched to arrow direction or valve will open and close with a thud.
Valves appear to be fitted to the return to the boiler. Nothing wrong with that but watch out for some rads heating up when HW only is requested.
Incidentally, I would cap the gas pipe, else this can lead to dire consequencies.
