I have this psychological blockage against paying for access to the manuals library because although Alan has done a lot of work to develop it it was originally gifted free to ARGI and was being developed for their members.

i totally agree with you tony

(print and frame this post)

The manuals you get free, or for a few pounds, are the ones anyone can download from manufacturers' websites. So if you want one for a Turbomax 242, you're out of luck (unless it changed). More of them are being put online (eg Vokera) but not too many of the older ones.
It's a lot of work to scan and make them available online, and I don't mind paying a small amount for that - £25 is OK. Some manufacturers charge a lot for their parts discs(GW), some are free.

As far as I'm aware there's nothing stopping anyone putting any of them online free. Argi could, if.....

ARGI are trying to put MIs on their site for members free access. Thats taking some time to get organised and has not got very far yet.

The original gift to ARGI of a database of MIs was intended to be for their free access. Unfortunately, that all went wrong for various reasons and now we have a pay site which is well managed and being added to regularly.

The £25 might have been of better use as a donation to ARGI if only they had got their MI listings loaded.

I was getting confused, so paid up to the site that XX mentioned. I will be supporting ARGI all the way though!

Whilst were onabout ARGI and Corgi thing..

Our lecturer was warned by CORGI that he would be struck off the registar because he wasnt fitting many\any gas appliances!!!!!!!!! - whats all that about, hes been a paid up member a million years etc.. and has no issues with them - obviously they are missing his commissioning fee (or whatever it is - not to clued up on the £3 per appliance thing).

Your tutor has misunderstood the letter.

Any CORGI who has not notified any installs yet has been asked to return a declaration saying that he does not do installation work.

Anyone who has not notified and does not return the declaration will continue to receive threatening letters from CORGI as the implication will be that they are doing instals without notifying.

There is no legal requirement to reply to the CORGI letter. But .....
