Hi

after yesterdays advice I went out and bought a new diaphragm, (I wasnt getting hot water, but CH fine - Baxi 105e (not instant)

anyway I turned off the CW feed underneath as expected and ran the hot tap (no water came out)

I then removed the switch from the front of the valve - ok so far

I loosened off the screws around the brass housing and water started leaking from it. Ok no probs its bound to have water in it. But how much??I filled a 1litre jug and it still leaking so I fastened it back up.

Have I forgotten anything?

secondly I grabbed a hold (gently of course) of the push rod and pull it, it felt like it was springing back quite firmly. If the diaphragm is knackered would this happen, I thought it would be pretty loose??

I look forward to your help

many thanks

beatts

Very little water comes out usually unless you've got loads of pipe work upstairs thats draining out.

Did you open all the hot taps? and allow to drain through the lowest outlet....sometimes air locks can also be a pain.

Sometimes you just have to undo the hot outlet under the boiler and drain any residual water....tie an old dish cloth around the fitting and you can drain into a bucket easier.

Pulling on the pin will be under spring pressure despite a perforated diaphragm.

A pipe full. Open hot taps high and low and most of that will empy - or just one below and it shoudl suck air at the boiler.

1 litr :? e is a lot though

aargh!,

I only turned the hot water tap on, on the bathroom sink which on reflection is higher than the boiler!!!

why didn't I listen at school when they were talking about gravity?

thanks

I'll turn the kitchen tap on too.

I'd just like to say thanks lads, I changed the diaphragm (very slight tear in it at the edge) and no water from the valve after turning the downstairs tap on!!!!!

Hot water is back now :D

Anyway, you've saved me a few quid and i've learned a bit in the process too.

great

cheers! :D
