Hi Everyone,

First let me say that even though I have my fair share of DYI projects completed I have little understanding of Alarms and their programming. Having said I recently replaced my alarm system from a Brinks system (very old) to an Ademco Vista 20P. I have followed all tutorial and wired everything (all wired sensors) but when I powered it on for the first time I got all my zones with Faults.

Questions:

Is this the normal behavior and it will be fixed once I go through the entire programming of the new system?

Also will my current old (Brinks provided) Siren work or do I have to replace it? It was making a clicking noise after installation.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Thanks a lot for sharing. That is not something that I had found and it certainly is a lot better than what I had originally.

Here is where I have trouble and I want to make sure I understand this correctly.

Hardwire Zones and Zone Expansion Hardwire Zones zones-001-V0 HI LO Normally Open Zones/ N.O. EOLR Zones

1. Connect open circuit devices in parallel across the loop; for EOLR zones, connect the EOLR across the loop wires at the last device.
2. Enable normally open/EOLR zones using Zone Programming mode, “Hardwire Type” prompt.

Normally Closed Zones/ N.C. EOLR Zones
1. Connect closed circuit devices in series in the high (+) side of the loop; for EOLR zones, connect the EOLR in series following the last device.
2. Enable normally closed/EOLR zones using Zone Programming mode, “Hardwire Type” prompt. End of Line Resistor (EOLR)

Notes • If the EOLR is not at the end of the loop, the zone is not properly supervised and the system may not respond to an “open” on the zone. • Zone 1 is intended for EOLR only. UL For UL commercial burglar alarm installations, use EOLR zones.

So having read these it seems that I need to make sure I use EOLRs on every single zone.

So the questions is
Where ?
Can i do this at the board?
Should I do this for every single zone on the HI side? (8,11, 12,14, 15,17,18,20 on the diagram last page of the manual you shared)

Appreciate if you answer this questions.

Thank you very much.

Ruyaguilar, welcome

Please inspect the post from Ban-All-Sheds carefully.
He is trying to help you

1. This forum is about ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS. There is a separate forum for ALARMS, so there is little point asking more questions here
2. IF you ask there, they may not know anything about systems that are ourtside the UK (as you seem to be from foreign parts)

If you want your post moved, hit the REPORT button and ask to be moved. Although I rather suspect you should ask to be deleted, and then look for an alarms forum - in your own country!

EOLR's need to be at the end of the loop. They cannot go in the board.
