Dear Electricians out there

I am having a built in fan oven 4.9kw and built in ceramic hob 6.2kw in total=11.1kw.

I am getting a electrician to do the job but i want like to know what he needs to do in accordance with regulations.

Currently 10mm (dedicated)cable with a 6mtr run supplied into the kitchen on a 32amp breaker.

Issue one the current CCU is too far away from the appliance approx 2.2 metres i would like to have this moved closer.

Can this be extended using a 30/45amp connector spur etc then into the CCU.

Secondly it is only running a 32 amp i believe this maybe inadequate and may need a 40/50 amp mcb.

Any advise as to what i should expect the Electrician to say would be great as for warned is for armed.

Many Thanks

To all

A good electrician will advise you replace the whole cable. I would use a 40 amp MCB if you're running one circuit for both appliances (together they use about 46 amps, but not everything will be running at once).

These days it is becoming more common to run 2 circuits. One for the oven and one for the hob. If you're replacing the cable, consider this route. Each appliance would need a 32 amp radial in 6mm² cable.

Of course, your electrician and others on this forum will have differing views on this.

as a note, the cooker switch or any other isolation point sould be within 1.5 mts of the appliance

Half a meter is a pretty thick hair.

Anyhoo, 500mm is quite a difference.

If you are going to give out advice, please try to make sure it is correct.

Does this mean that i should have 2 ccu ??? 1 for each circuit if this is the case i have to think of a different layout..

Once again i thank all for their knowledge

total load is 48.3A so you ideally would need 2 32A circuits with 2 switches, 1 for the hob & 1 for the cooker :)

Alternatively, your spark can apply diversity.

One switch may be used to isolate both, provided neither is more then 2m from the switch.
