Am looking to install a bathroom fan above the bath in the original ventilation hole.I`ve been reading the forum about running the fan off the light circuit.
I was planning to run it as a new circuit off the CU throught my original shower pull switch (shower no longer installed) and wiring.
Is this practical (and safe) I`ll pull new wire through to replace the shower wire (what size would I need?)
can I safely and legally fit a fan above the bath?
have done a bit of DIY electrics before, fitting extra sockets, moving lights etc. so I`m not a total beginner.but would appreciate help on this.
cheers.

Apart from the other aspects, it is much better to wire the extractor so it comes on with the light switch, otherwise you will find people don't bother to switch it on most of the time, and the bathroom with be damper and less fresh than necessary.

Also, safely and legally, probably not. Have a look at the Bathroom Zones info (do a search) and it will probably need to be extra-low voltage off a transformer, not to mention installed by a professional who is a member of a self-certification scheme (I can't see it would be worth paying the local authority).

thanks for that john.will look into it further before attempting anything further.
cheers.
