Hi all,I have bought one of these http://www.dimplex.co.uk/products/fires_surrounds/solid_fuel_stoves/westcott_inset_stove/index.htm
and i need to fit it into what is currently my standard size open fire place,i have been quoted between £150 and £200 to fit it,by the sounds of what the chap said all that needs doing is some kind of funnel fitting and then cementing in place(and then signing off)

basically I would like to do it myself and save the money(as i am broke at present),anyone know what it would entail?thanks

Hi,

Firstly, all solid fuel installations should be completed under Building Control approval or by a competent person registered as such (e.g. Hetas).

I would not recommend this as a DIY job.

The first thing you would need to do is check whether the diameter of your chimney flue is suitable and then, if so, smoke pressure test it using methods from ADJ (Doc J of Building regs).
