i will be added 2 spurs from 2 sockets in my utility for the tumble drier and washing machine. is it ok just to use a switched single socket for these behind the adjasent cuboard. i would intend drilling a large access hole into the back of the cuboard so that you could switch it off or disconnect if required. also surface mounted cable behind the units does this need to be in capping or is plain surface mount clipped to the wall ok?

Rules say a fixed appliance over 2kW should have it's own supply and not run from ring main so likely it will not comply.

Having seen a washing machine weight come lose I would never run one without a handy isolator which can be used when machine is dancing.

As long as a dancing washing machine will not damage cable clipped direct is fine.

Not exactly. The 2KW situation is a recommendation giving one of the ways that loads on a ring can be minimised. Nowhere does it say that a 2KW cannot be connected to a ring final.
This comes from Appendix 15 of the BRB. Appendix 15 is titled as "informative".

Its a great idea for larger loads to have their own circuits, but its not an absolute requirement.
