Just over a year ago my ageing Vokera combi showed signs of expiring, I inherited it with the house, wouldn't have had it by choice, and I don't much like combis anyway. I used this site to do a bit of research and came to the conclusion that it wasn't going to help, who do you believe? I did however come across reference to IG, but never having heard of them, independent research was required. It transpired that my local independent plumbers merchant had just started stocking them, they had a clear fronted one on the wall to inspect, and the rep happened to be there on the days I was. I was most impressed by the heat exchanger, a beautifully simple and elegant design, and the whole thing seemed well put together, at least by comparison to other makes. I did look at other manufacturers, principally Viesmann and Vaillant, but in the end I decided to trust my engineering judgement so an HRE24SB was purchased. For other domestic reasons the boiler couldn't be installed until recently, but now it has I am wholly impressed. It's far too soon to judge its reliability or economy, but nothing suggests to me that it will be other than wholly successful. So to Dan, Muggles, Mehran and all the other regular contributors who have pushed this boiler I thank you. To anyone needing a new boiler, certainly consider the IG range.

I have a small query which I hope one of you kind persons might answer. My boiler is installed in an S plan system which requires the boiler internal clock to be set to C-ON, however this is displayed continuosly. Is this correct or should it show the flow temp as the manual suggests?

Thanks
Martin

Thanks v much for your quick response, I thought that might be the case. I have to say that of the 5 boilers, by 5 different manufacturers, I have had installed over the last 40 years this one has been by far the least hassle.

I should hope so too. You've only just had it installed!

Been fitting then for 10 years.

Or breakdown work has dropped off a cliff since the days of Potterton, Idea and Wooshitter Botch.

Simple is good.

I would hope so as well, but one managed six days before the fan motor packed up, and the worst one lasted less than 24 hours with a terminal failure of the PCB. Both sorted under warranty although the fan motor issue repeated itself approximately annually. Didn't last long that one, from memory after the 4th new fan assembly at £65 a pop plus fitting, I'd had enough. Luck of the draw of course but none the less.
