Hi, I have recently moved house and in my new dining room it has 3 ceiling spot lights randomly spaced.

Once turned on they're fine but after about 5 minutes they go out?. I flick the switch and nothing happens....they then will come back on after maybe 5 minutes but this process is repeated until I flick the switch to the off position?

The lamps are a two pin GU5.3????...it's as if they're getting too hot and switch off to cool down but I haven't a clue tbh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

GU5.3 lamps are 12 volt so these lights are fed via a transformer. This is the likley fault, the only cure is a replacment transformer.

I had a similar problem when I moved into my new house. We got 12 (GU10) downlighters and they kept turning off after a few minutes.

Our problem was that the dimmer switch was only rated at 600w (I think) and I had to replace it with a 1000w. This fixed my problem.

cheers guys......any other tips?????, where will the transformer be?..in the ceiling void?

It may be in the ceiling and it should be accessible. Take out each light fitting and gently pull down the attached wiring. It should be up there, somewhere.

It may be in a hidden corner, on top of a cupboard. Lots of options..
