I wish to add a sensor to my existing intruder alarm system and would like the cabling to be as unobtrusive as possible. Is it acceptable to bring the cable through the ceiling behind coving and chase the alarm cable directly into the wall and then plaster over? Also, does the cable have to be clipped to joists in the ceiling void, or can it just lay on the plasterboard ceiling?

Thanks for any replies.

Yes that's fine. If you can fish the wire along the gap behind the coving it'll save you chasing the wall out and patching the plaster work. No need to clip the cable in the void.

Thanks for the quick reply RF. Yes I intend to use the coving as much as possible! It's the bit from the coving to the top of the door frame that I will be chasing into the wall.
