Do intumescent strips have to be continuous when fitted to a new fire door going in an old frame or can they stop and start either side of hinges and the latch?
my fire hinges came with intumescent pads to fit behind the hinge leaves. I think I have seen them sold in packs at Ironmongery Direct. I have seen similar sheets that can be used around mortice locks but have not used them.
btw fire doors are so heavy that I think it is best to use lift-off hinges for ease of future maintenance and redecoration. Eclipse do nice ones but there are plenty of others.
