Not quite inventions, but do you feel that you could of improved a product but never looked into it or done nothing about it but seen something similar later on on years?

When I was at school, I was in a Geography lesson one day and thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if in the future they had a map that sort of scrolled on a screen as you travelled along.
And now I have one.

I have assisted and instigated a few advances in security items that people take for granted now days.
Also industry specific things, tools for the trade type.
Nothing special in that, quite a few of us are active with manufacturers and designers. Nothing stands still in our game.

I remember lying on the floor when i was eight watching my mam(northener us) spraying her hair, remember the pump up plastic bottles?
I thought of spray butter, she laughed, then years later i saw it being used on the trains in france,never caught on but i was happy.

I thought of having the music notation on a screen, rather like a kindle. You could call up any number you wanted, set it in front of you and start playing, reading from the screen.
With a bit of add-on technology, it would automatically turn the page for you at the appropriate time.
It would save all the music manuscript paper, save lugging loads of scores around, save dishing out scores to orchestras, bands, etc, save replacing lost or damaged pieces, save on page turning, etc, while playing.
You could even sort the numbers into a concert order for playing.
I would have thought that most composers would use a PC now to record their manuscripts, and even if they don't there's a lot of music scanning software about. Or even software that will record the notation while the number is played on a keyboard linked to a PC.
There's still one problem that I haven't thought of a work-around.
Serious musicians scrawl all over their pieces, making personal or conductor directed notes. That could be overcome I'm sure but it would be more unwieldly than simple pencil marks on a score.

Slightly off topic,but some 40 odd years ago there was a programme on BBC TV...sort of a Dragons den.
There was a £1000 prize awarded to the winner of each programme to help budding inventors to develop their product.
A guy came on with his version of plastic gutters and downpipes.I remember clearly the panel of three thought it was a joke and ripped the idea to bits...the guy didn't win.
....Wonder if he gave up,or won in the end?

But unfortunately they not called "JohnJohns"
I could certainly improve on the spinal board design I was strapped too a few weeks ago, I thought they were supposed to hold you imobile, I was sliding all over the board , was thinking a simple not slip surface like the one I made for by scooter seat would have worked much better. The ambulance staff were all cursing the difficulting in using the board.

Should have used solvite on it and then they could have carried you to the hospital by dangling you out of a helicopter

That's got to be worth an e-mail to someone, H and S? the hospital involved? someone is getting paid for making something that's worth peanuts and getting well paid, with your money.
PS. the father in law fell out of his wheel chair 2 days ago in hospital, as the nurse was rushing and didn't strap him in proper. 87, big, not a fat bloke, and he hated being asked to make a claim, he said it's all wrong, victorian values i suppose.
