Is DPM affected by sunlight?

I have a garage roof that needs replacing including the sheet timber underneath. I plan to do this next Spring.

Can I cover the roof in 'damp proof membrane' so that it is water tight until next year,does it matter if I use blue or black. Or should I cover the DPM with a tarpaulin so that it is not affected by sunlight.

I built a small pond for the wife's fish years ago with some and it still holds water. Even the edges are still OK.

If you waited until Spring 2023 the DPM would still be OK
