Far be it from me to be a "corgi nazi" but i would strongly suggest that you disregard raden advice (not saying you are not able to do it raden just saying that you should not) especially the bit about a reconditioned board.
Manufacturers get upset if you do and your house insurance, if they can prove its at fault and they will, will not pay out in the event of any fire/damage caused by the board.
As for replacing the board whilst Unregistered, well the board does control all the safety devices of the boiler and as such must be changed by a proven competent person (ie CORGI)
