I've just enquired about filling up my bulk lpg gas tank, have been quoted 56.25 pence per litre, which seems very expensive to me.
Just asked my next door neighbour how much she is paying and its 39 pence per litre.

So i've been back in touch with the supplier and apparently its because i'm not using enough gas

I'm not a big user as i'm single and live alone don't like the house to hot, but if i put the heating on more i'd pay less, so much for saving the environment !!!!! What a farce

I got mine filled on 22nd Nov. It took 1562Lts @ 38.65p/Lt + VAT. I got the bill today £603.71 + VAT = £633.90.
I don't use a lot of gas either but I do phone them from time to time and remind them that I can get it cheaper if I change supplier. I'm with Calor btw.
When I phoned to order the gas the girl said to me "don't you want your tank uplifted any longer"?
It's easy to switch supplier now and you don't need to get another tank from your new supplier, you keep your existing one and they just change who you rent it from.

Uhm, I don't think you're being green but perhaps a little naive. You're buying fuel delivered by lorry if buying 1000l plus you don't notice the delivery charge, buy 500l, it hurts.

Just make sure you buy your gas at the *end* of winter, when the tank is coldest and the fuel is most dense... Then your heating for the summer months will be much cheaper  :P

In all seriousness, I really feel for you. It must be terrible living in beautiful countryside with a clear half mile between your house and your neighbours, with nothing but clear fields and fresh air around you. I would honestly trade the slightly more expensive fuel costs for the luxury of noisy neighbours and chavs throwing Fosters cans in my front garden and puking on the pavement!

Which makes me start to wonder... why don't I just sell this place and move a few miles away into the deeper countryside?

Because when you smear Nitromors over your face, the ambulance can't find your house. Neither can fire engines for that matter. Oh, and if they do find it, there's no water mains so your house just burns down.
What else :?:

So my 1 delivery of 1500+ litres should cost me more than the 3 plus deliveries to next door, who have restricted access, so a small tanker is sent, but there is now only one small tanker on the north wales coast / cheshire area, so its sent out specially

Living out in the country i not always all its cracked up to be as Stivino says the emergency services can be quite a concern, its a bit worrying when you see police cars/ ambulances asking for directions.

Living in the country doesn't stop all the fosters cans and mcdonalds packaging from ending up in my gateway, I live along side a main road, but the nearest mcdonalds is about 8 miles away, but the rubbish ends up outside my house

Maybe i didn't explain things very well in my initial post, the point i was trying to make was that we are constantly bombarded with "save energy" type schemes but when you are economical, you pay more !!!
We are told that oil and gas supplies may become more expensive etc because supplies may dry up.
We are told to insulate our houses etc, so if i insulate my loft to latest spec and save even more gas it could cost me even more.

If you had a 1.4 fiesta would you be happy paying more for petrol than a guy in his 4.2 litre Range Rover because you don't use as muchl !!!!

I have oil fired heating buying in quantities below 1000l costs more 1500l
Being on a "top system" can work out cheaper as they will top your tank when passing, if that is the system your neighbour is using, perhaps you should consider doing the same.

Delivery systems often don't know about "restricted access" they work on an "average" I can send a Pallet to Ireland, France or Sweden For what it costs to send one to some parts of Scotland.

You should get in contact with as many people in the close vicinity as you can on LPG, say 5sq miles. I'm currently organising a "group" discount for a number of residents(I hope) where by everyone will buy from the same supplier and in return they will offer a discount. It looks like its a goer, just getting a few more people on board and making the suppliers know I'm serious about handing over up to a 100 new customers for the right price.
As an LPG engineer you will also qualify for a £100 bonus for every new customer you hand over  in addition you will be everyones best friend for saving them money and you will probably gain most of the plumbing and heating work for said consumers. bingo :D
