I have a newteam xt1000 power shower and recently it has developed a starting fault. When it's switched on the motor runs but no water's coming out (the pump is running dry) however if i take the shower head and hold it down low the water starts to run and then flows as normal for the rest of the shower.

My guess is it seems like there's an air lock when it's first switched on? I wonder if power showers have a non return valve? in which case this one is faulty? Or maybe the shower is just on it's way out and will need replacing soon?

One thing i have noted is the hot water tank is at the same level (just below) as the shower although the cold water tank is in the loft. So guess that's not helping.

check the shower hose is not kinked or twisted

the inside of the shower hose is like a garden hose pipe and can become twisted with use
