Is there a kitchen extractor fan that does not need outlet?

Yes. You can get the hoods that take carbon filters

i had a recycling hood and was very disappointed with it, charcoal filters needed changing very frequently - I guess if that all you can do maybe better than nothing ....

i seem to remember we just opened up a window in the end - when we could and just used its lights

even back then (20years ago) the filters were expensive

I now have one which extracts outside - so much better.

BUT , yes they do , you often find you can setup the hood in either mode

We've got one of these, came with the house.

It's utterly pointless. The air that comes out smells worse than what went in, as it goes through a load of smelly stale food residues. I keep meaning to shove myself into the loft and duct it out properly, hopefully this was a reminder.
