Is this an acceptable finish for silicone render at the soffit?
I've just had my house externally rendered with a silicone thin-coat render system. The front of the house looks very neat, but at the rear and the side of the house, where the render meets the soffit, there is a continuous gap in places.
I've attached photos.
The gaps vary in size and the render meets the soffit intermittently. This contrasts with the front of the house, where the render meets the soffit all the way along. The soffit had been masked off with orange tape prior to the render being applied. My suspicion is that the tape has then been removed and taken some of the render with it.
I have brought this up with the renderer, who said that the joint between the render and the soffit requires mastic sealing and that he could do it for me, but he'd charge an extra £100 for the service. This seems pretty odd to me, as I would expect that it would be included in the original quote.
I wanted to get opinions from people with experience installing silicone rendering system.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
