Is this limescale?

Can anyone confirm if this is limescale from the kettle? Looks a bit hairy to me haha

It's boiled filtered water (filter needs changing soon) Water certainly doesn't go in like that.

If it doesn't go in like that it's time for a new kettle, they are cheap enough.

have a look in the kettle, limes ale is obvious.

I descale my kettle monthly, I boil a 3/4 full kettle, move jettle to sink and pour in a splash of Formic acid which you can buy under trade name Kilrock descaler.

Makes inside of kettle look like new in a few minutes …..a stainless steel kettle, not sure about those plastic ones

I do ours when needed. I did some of the parts of the shower (screen) recently, when I had some de-scaler on the go. We have two types of de-scaler at present, but the stuff in the bottle from Home Bargains is the best. The sachet stuff (liquid) from Tesco is ok, but not as aggressive. It just means you have to leave it on for longer.

Just fill the kettle, a decent squirt of white vinegar, and boil.

Might need a boil or two afterwards without vinegar, to remove any scent.

Works for plastic kettles.
