I’ve never found any reference to this way of wiring a fan isolator and timer fan (no lights involved, just a switch to control the fan).

I can’t see anything fundamentally wrong with it, but please correct me if that’s not the case.

Connected to fused 5a feed. All Earths connected where available.

You just need a double pole switch which will act as an isolator as well.

You don't have to have an isolator, you know.

Cheers. Yeah, it has a timer. As far as I can see, this meets the requirements. Just never seems to be done like that that I’ve seen.

The fan isolator is also isolating the control switch

There’s no reason to do that but it will operate as normal

Yeah, exactly. Better explanation than I gave. Just checking there isn’t anything wrong with it even if it’s a bit unnecessary.

The issue with it would be troubleshooting , in theory

It’s better to be able to operate the fan controls with the fan isolator off and check supplies there at incoming side

So would be bad practice anyhow

You don't have to have an isolator, you know.

However, if the fan is supplied from a lighting circuit (which is very common) a fan isolator enables you to safely clean or maintain it, without having to work in the dark.

Don't clean it in the middle of the night.

If you are using more than just a one gang switch to operate the the bathroom light then you might not want the Perm L to that switch isolating as well if it irs supplying say the landing light or a nearby bedroom either.
My preference would usually be - (say if 3 plate wiring to a rose or a light unit ) from the rose to the 3 pole isolator then from the 3 pole isolator to the fan, That way the 3 pole isolator only isolates the fan and nothing else.
