I left my scooter outside a shop for 5 mins only to return to find its bin nicked  I havent read all the small print on insurance policy but does anyone know the criteria re.. making a claim, what questions they ask roughly how long before they pay out etc. I didnt leave the keys in the scooter although i didnt chain it up cheers P M

depends on the policy. reading it will give the exact answers, anyone else can only give guesses

IMO, keys out = secure when it comes to motor vehicles. And insurers have to pay out if you've done everything "reasonable" to secure your vehicle. For a car, this would be to lock the doors as well. But in your case, pm, unless the policy states you have to chain it up, you should be safe. My sisters boyfriend has a bike, he had an alarm fitted to it because its kept outside most of the time. Just a thought.

am very vigilant now(crazy face on) shot gun in hand at back door

waiting,,,,,,ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaa

i,ll teach'm to take my bin

nothing secure about leaving a scooter outside without the keys in.
vans pulls up lift scooter into the back van drives off 5 mins is plenty of time only needs 10 secs and gone

Sorry to hear of your loss but to help you get over the theft i've researched on the web for places for cheap scooters and found this, hope it helps:
