Hi, fitting long leg joist hangers to a 8x2 doubled up joist. Do I notch the joist so the hanger wrap over sits flush with the top? I've read you do, but I've also read that your shouldn't notch double joists - you either know or you don't!

Cheers for any help.

it is ok to notch the 5mm or so, i.e. the thickness of the hanger metal.

we always notch the joist bottom so that it sits flush in the hanger cup.

im referring to the built-in type

and not the jiffy/speedy type

Thanks for the reply Noseall. The type I am using are the long leg jiffy/speedy type. If you don't notch and just wrap over I assume that it will cause problems when laying the floor on top.
