A seperate supply would be better!

Why don't you consider a fused spur from the down stairs ring main to an external socket mounted on the wall outside?

As already mentioned coming off an existing socket would be best as having a junction box in the ceiling is not a good idea. The spur would require a FCU for the feed to the shed. the cable to the shed would have to be of an appropriate type i.e. SWA, MICC etc not twin and earth clipped to the wall. Also RCD protection should be used if the existing circuit does not have RCD protection

Hopefully you are aware that any electrical work in the garden is governed by Part P of the building regulations //www.diynot.com/wiki/electrics:part_p:diy_electrical_work_and_the_law Classed as a "Special Installation" look at section 4 half way down the page. If the installation is not being carried out by a "competent person" you will have to inform your local building control before work commences.
