Just a typical day on our site....

Plumbers been in and didn't take no prisoners, those pipes are going there and nothing will get in the way !!

Had a call to a light in the canteen on fire....

Brick lights that have been in for two years...

The burnt capacitor one is interesting.... we are seeing similar things at work with the pfc caps in the quad ceiling tile type flourscents. I'm wondering if this is down to triplen harmonics ... those caps are going to have a much lower impedance at 150Hz and so will pass a much larger current than the designer anticipated.

Ditto, spotted some today where the plastic case has fallen off the cap & is sitting on the upper side of the tile diffuser...... Guess I'll go have a closer look at them....

Brick lights are the worst invention ever invented. I've never had anything but trouble with them.

A couple of years ago our work had a recall from crompton about the capacitors in their fittings melting/burning, the brand affected were labelled as DNA, we ended up getting sent a load of replacement capacitors ( different brand) as we were finding them popping everywhere and were advised to replace them due to the fault.
I dont actually know what caused the failure.

Few pics from me.....
