Ka aircon goes into reverse?

Ka aircon seems to go reverse (reverse cycle) when turned off and on (like when stalled) or a short stop at a shop. The heat that comes out is over 50deg c even if the car is cold. Anyone experienced this or know what is wrong? An aircon mechanic reckoned it cant happen because of a one way valve in the line.
I am considering pinching the heater pipe to see if no water flow would prove it is the aircon.

I would think its more likely to be a fault in the heater control system which is letting hot air in when it shouldn't.

Even if the car is cold? Mined ewe I've just noticed the OP is in Australia

Theoretically it can't happen because the condenser would have to become the evaporator and vice versa which is do able in a heat pump designed for it but very strange in a car situation.
