Hi

I have just moved into a 4 year old flat that was previously vacant for some time. Everything had been switched off.

Im trying to get everything working but the boiler is causing me some issues. When i switch it on. the display and all the lights flash red and the display shows 8.8.8 and continues to do so for as long as i leave it switched on. i have tried pressing the reset button and all of the other buttons but nothing seems to make a difference.

Please help if you can

May Thanks

Katie

unfortunately you need to either a) prepare yourself for a future of periods without heating and hot water and expensive repair bills or b) replace it now and have done with it, because at some point in the next 4/5yrs you will be doing that anyway.
If you havent the money to replace it I would suggest getting British Gas out to fix it and put it on a service contract...........you'll need it :(

Both!

Have you bought this flat?

Surely you knew the boiler was not working? It should have been disclosed in the pre-contract enquiries!

It was a reposesion flat. Sold as seen with red tape all over the place.

All gas, electric and water was swithched off prior to completion.

I bought the flat with my fingers crossed that everything would be ok.

Unfortunately i am an optimist.

Thanks for your assistance on this

Not many boilers i would actually direct the customer to BG contracts... but this one is definitely top of the list - strangely most of the others are made by keston as well.

Both of the C36s' I fitted ended up dying horribly.

I get the picture. Thank you all for your comments and advice. If cave men can live without hot water then so can I!!! :D

That's probably a good thing Katie!!

Dan - of course my comment re: Keston does meen (to be an optimist) that at any time in the UK 10% of Kestons are actually operating without fault!!
