I am building a timber framed small building.

I'm using kiln dried timber. I understand that the timber is stored outside at the merchants but want to know do I have to seal the ends after I have cut them.

Thing is the frame will be out in the rain etc for a while without any cover.
Thanks for any help

After cutting them coat them with a good quality wood protection paint and give the ends a coat as well.

We used Sadolin Classic for the timber framed house we built. We were then lazy and left it for 10 years before re-painting the exposed timber. ( 5 years is the recommended interval ) No problem, the timber was still in perfect condition.

Kiln dried timber should not be stored outside it will absorb moisture and warp/twist.
