Kitchen Ceiling Advice

Hi,

Is it bad practice to put lining paper on a kitchen ceiling? We've had new ceilings and out builder has put up lining paper over the plaster board and painted, looks very neat and you can hardly tell it's not been skimmed with plaster but im concerned about steam etc in the kitchen affecting the ceiling over time?

Any advice appreciated!

So has he boarded the ceiling & just papered it with lining paper? He’s skimping & I wouldn't accept anything other than a plaster finish!
