Hello I am getting my cooker changed to a double oven and hob. The cooker is wired in 10mm twin and earth and the run is about 6metres long. Should the cable be ok? The house was re wired about 10 years ago. Many thanks

10mm is sufficient for almost all electric ovens, but without knowing anything about the specifications of the oven, we can't give a yes/no answer.

Does that include double oven and hob off the same switch, cable and fuse electronics uk?

Again, without further information it's impossible to give a concrete answer. In a clipped direct installation over such a short distance, it's reasonable to be able to draw almost 15kW through 10mmsq without overloading the cable or having volt drop issues. Of course, it's likely that the cable is not fixed using this installation method, so the current rating could be significantly less.

Taking diversity into account, I think you should be OK with the load of a double oven and hob, but as you might have gathered - there are a lot of variables to take into account. It isn't as simple as yes/no without having the right information.

What might be interesting is finding a way of terminating the cable and splitting to both the oven and hob, and for this reason alone I would advise separate radial circuits from the CU to feed both appliances. Surely it can't be hard to run a new cable over 6 metres?

The cable is run under the floorboards clipped to joists and piped up the wall into the 45amp cooker switch. There is a 45amp connection plate fitted behind the existing cooker. Could I split the double oven and hob from here?

Piped? Are you referring to steel or PVC conduit? Or is it just held back with Steel or PVC capping, as is the norm?

So, you're limited to 45A total in any case, which changes the situation a little. I know I keep saying this, but you're wasting your time asking these questions without knowing how much power the new appliances require. How long is a piece of string?

Could I split the double oven and hob from here?

Perhaps, depending on whether or not you can get two suitably sized conductors into each terminal. Also, if the oven and hob are not both situated next to the 45A switch, it would be good to see separate local isolation for each appliance.
